Welcome to Team Humber!

Teachers in our class are:

  • Mrs Danbury – Class Teacher
  • Miss Schofield – HLTA and Spanish Teacher
  • Mrs Bell – Assistant Teacher
  • Mr Jeff – P.E Specialist
  • Mr Heath – Music specialist

During the week we have the following activities:

P.E. – On Friday afternoons, Mr Jeff, our specialist P.E. teacher, takes the class for a session.  Children also have a P.E lesson on Thursday afternoons with Mrs Danbury. P.E. kits can remain in school and be taken home to wash at least once a half term.

Spanish and Music – We are really lucky to have specialist Spanish and Music teachers who teach these subjects.  Spanish is taught on a Tuesday afternoon and music on a Friday afternoon.

During other afternoons, we have creative curriculum activities, linking all subjects around our theme for the term.

Reading – Children take part in guided reading and reading activity session every day.   We usually read together as a class as well as giving the children time to listen to others read, question and be questioned about what they have read and how the author has written in a certain way.

Home reading books can be changed by your child weekly.  If your child keeps forgetting to change their book, please let us know.  Reading is part of your child’s homework and they have a challenge to read at least five times a week.  Please would you listen to your child read so that you can ask him/her comprehension questions and help them improve their understanding and fluency.  We would be grateful if you could then write a note in their planner to say they have read to you.

Homework – Homework will be given on a Friday and needs to be returned the following Friday. The homework will be online and will include a piece of writing, maths and spellings as well as reading.

Spellings – Spellings will also be given out on a Friday and tested the following Friday.
