The Department of Education has recently confirmed that a new School Admissions Code will be in effect from 1st September 2021
The main purpose of the changes to the School Admission Code 2021 is to improve the in-year admission process, in particular for vulnerable children. The changes include introducing more detail on the process for managing in-year admissions; changes to improve the effectiveness of Fair Access Protocols; giving children adopted from state care outside of England equal admissions priority as children who were previously looked after in England; and clarification of which address to use for the admission of service or crown servant children. There are also further minor clarification changes.
These changes supersede information in the previous admissions policies for 2021-22 and 2022-23 which will be updated in due course.
Ebor Academy Trust participates in the Local Authority’s Co-ordinated Admission Scheme for in-year admissions. If parents/carers wish to apply for a school place, applications can be made at https://www.northyorks.gov.uk/school-admissions
The Local Authority will confirm the outcome of the application in writing within 15 school days. If the application is refused, the Local Authority will advise on the statutory appeal procedure. Details of the Co-ordinated Admission Scheme and how in-year applications are managed are available at https://www.northyorks.gov.uk/school-admissions
Please note that the admission arrangements consultation for admission to school in 2023-24 will run from Monday 11 October until Friday 3 December.
All pre-determined documents can be found at https://www.northyorks.gov.uk/admission-arrangements-consultation-2023-2024
The views of parent/carers, schools, neighbouring authorities and other interested parties are being sought during this consultation period and any comments should be addressed to schoolorganisation@northyorks.gov.uk
