Life in Lower Key Stage 2

In Lower Key Stage 2, we have an overriding theme that runs for around 6 weeks. This drives most of our work, including English, Guided Reading, History, Geography, and Computing.  During our 2 years in this phase, we will learn about the following areas: Settlements, Black History, Romans, Life in Poland, Mayans, Stone Age, Local Community, Natural Disasters, the history of Selby, and the Victorians. 

Specialist Teachers

On Tuesday afternoon, we have PE with Mr. Jeff, our PE specialist. We also have PE on a Friday afternoon with Miss Spark and Mrs. Danbury. We come to school in our PE kit and school trainers, and bring our trainers in a bag. 

Spanish – we are very lucky to have Miss Schofield, our languages specialist, teach us Spanish on a Tuesday afternoon. 

PSHE – once a week, on a Thursday, we visit The Hub and study PSHE with Mrs. Bell and our class teacher. It is great fun finding out about the world around us. 

Homework: 

Every week we have homework set on a Friday.  We need to read at home at least 3 times a week, we complete a minimum of 5 games on Times Table Rockstars and Spelling Shed and we complete a task on My Maths. All of our login information is written in our Reading Records.  If we’ve found it tricky to fit homework in at home, then we can attend Homework Club on a Thursday lunchtime.
