Food Glorious Food

This week, our whole school focus is on the theme of ‘Food, Glorious Food’. We know, as adults, the importance of our children having a healthy, balanced diet and this week will really focus on widening the children’s knowledge and practical experience of this. The teaching team have planned a fantastic range of activities for the children who I am sure will have an amazing time learning and having fun. Please follow us on Twitter (@staynorHprimary) for regular updates on what’s happening!

The week was kicked off in style in Key Stage 2 yesterday, as the children designed and made their own pizzas. Taste tests of different bases and toppings took place before the children made their own bases and added toppings of their choice to make delicious, healthy pizzas. We hope some made it home for you to try! Early Years were also trying and tasting different fruits and vegetables before creating their own smoothies.

This morning saw the whole school in the hall for ‘Ready, Teacher Cook’, where our teaching team worked in groups to create a 3 course meal for head judges Mr Jolly and Mrs Danks. The children supported our head judges, voting for a winner for each course before Mrs Campbell, our catering manager, made the final decision as to our winning team. Well done to Mrs Carolan, Mrs Danbury and Miss Schofield – our champions!

The remainder of the week is packed with activities and exciting opportunities for the children – what a way to kick start the second half of the summer term. For the final event of the week, we’d love as many of you as possible to join us for a Food Fair on the school playground from 3:15pm on Friday. The idea is to come and share in a celebration of different foods from around the world. Staff are making their specialities and we’d love as many families as possible to contribute. More details about this event have already been shared and we look forward to seeing as many of you as possible!

Best wishes

Mr Jolly
